Supervisor Report – January 14, 2020January 15, 2020 | Categorized in: Supervisor Report
1. Welcome to winter in Grand Marais! Every year we seem to be dealing with some of the same issues concerning snowmobiles. Speeding, driving on private property, and the noise level.
We now have speed signs at both East and West entrances to town. I believe this has helped a lot.
The speed limit is posted at 35mph on H-58 and they are required to follow those rules just like any other motor vehicle. The speed limits are set by the Alger County Road Commission and not the Township.
Since we don’t have law enforcement in town on a regular basis, we thought we would put together a packet listing our township ordinance for both snowmobiles and ORVs and give them to motels, hotels, and short term rentals to place in their rooms to inform the tourists of the rules.
You should always call the sheriff’s department when someone is breaking the law.
2. The township is looking for a zoning administrator, stop in the office or visit our Facebook page for details.
3. It’s the time of year to get your dog licenses from the Township office. You must provide proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination. Male/Female $10, Unsexed $5
