1. Burt Township is asking anyone interested in joining the Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Commission to please contact the Township Office and write a letter of intent.

2. Thanks to an Art Place grant we received funds to begin replacing some of our planters that have deteriorated over the years. We’re going to offer an “adopt a planter” program. The planters are made of recycled plastic resin and are guaranteed for 50 years.
If you want to adopt a planter in honor of someone special, the cost is $300 per planter. This covers the purchase, shipping, and a small plaque. Donor forms are available at the township office and online at

3. Please like us on Facebook at “Township of Burt, Alger County.” We try to keep it updated with class or meeting cancelations and other happenings in town.

4. There will be no public budget meeting of electors this year. Lack of attendance is one reason, but most townships stopped holding public budget meetings ten years ago. There will be a budget hearing in case you have any objections to the budget. The budget will be available at the township after the March township board meeting.
