Supervisor Report December 2019

1. Wow! What a thanksgiving storm. The emergency shelter was open for those who needed a warm place to stay. Many residents had no power for 55 hours! Please take steps to prepare for the next outage by having extra water and various foods that can be prepared without electricity.

The Grand Marais Emergency shelter is located at the Mennonite Church on Campbell St. one block from downtown. Notify one of the following people if your power is out and you are in need of the shelter. Lights & heat will be turned on, food can be warmed and warm beverages will be available.

In addition, the emergency barn will be open for anyone that needs to come with a pet.

2. Burt Township should receive our new ambulance on January 15, 2020. Just a reminder as we move into the New Year we will be merging with Alger County Emergency Services. All ambulance runs will by default head to Munising Memorial Hospital unless the patient requests otherwise. If you have any questions, please contact the Township Office.

3. The township is looking for a new zoning administrator. If you are interested please fill out a job application and write a letter of intent to the Township Board by Friday, January 31, 2019.

4. I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and safe travels over the holiday season.
